I am part of the Credit Card Business Unit and joined the 2022 FNB Graduate Programme.
I have and I still am learning a lot from this programme. During my time here, there are a several technical skills that I have acquired and working in an environment that encourages growth is quite exciting.
This graduate programme through the Network Company has also taught me several soft skills that are not only applicable to my professional life but to my personal life as well. My highlight of these courses were the Personal Mastery and the Professional Presence.
The personal mastery module taught me being able to identify what to unlearn, what to learn and what to relearn in the case where it applies. It has also taught me self-discipline, how to enter that mode as well as being responsible with having a to-do and a to-be list. The to-be list stuck with me as it creates a strategy to occupy space through having a list and keeping yourself accountable to that what I have decided. It is like a cheat sheet to life and how to get to what you want in life. One of the quotes used in this course that stuck with me is “When an egg breaks from the inside life begins and when it breaks from the outside life ends, so let it be from the inside so you can birth something new” as it has motivated me to work in a way to “birth” something new.
The professional presence module has taught me how to have constructive conversation that could be mutually beneficial and not just say thing to fill the silence, what I also liked was how the part on gestures and posture was given. It was quite engaging and memorable.
Not only have these sessions taught me a lot but it has also given me the opportunity to meet new people and make friends through the breakaway rooms.
